Chamonix Mont -Blanc is best reached by car, but in the winter due to the weather conditions there will be far more difficult. You can also get there from Zurich by train or bus. When I was in Chamonix, the Aiguille du Midi ropeway was excluded from use because of the wind speed of up to 100 km/h. Some railways worked and some of them were excluded from use, temporarily trapping tourists who unluckily they were on top.
